Great article, and thank you for linking to that Yondo story that Time ran at that time. I could almost say that I can't believe how lazy Time Magazine was to write stuff like this:
"... When first announced, Tombalbaye's policy of "Chaditude" seemed to be just another of the authenticity campaigns that have become a familiar and understandable phenomenon in Africa's newly independent black states...."
Newly independent? With Tombalbaye who'd been around since 1960?
I don't even think Time Magazine was lazy in that article referenced, they have just become straight out incompetent like their other mainstream counterparts.
Thanks for this comprehensive look at Chad. I didn’t realize it was as large as it was.
I also didn’t realize the amount of African territory France had colonized. I guess that partially explains some of Macron’s “delusions of grandeur “. How the once mighty have fallen.
Your point about killing the leader doesn’t stop ideologies holds true today as well. Sadly no one ever seems to learn that lesson.
It’s interesting to go back and reread your previous posts as new pieces are added to the puzzle. I’m certainly going to do that with your Libya piece.
So interesting to read - thank you for this! I'm looking forward to the next part
Fascinating - this was actually my first post of yours that I’ve read, have subbed!
