Actually Sankara has become very popular on Chinese internet in recent years. I give the credit to a history video maker “小约翰可汗”. He made a lot videos introducing history of different African nations. The one talking about Burkina Faso received 14 million views and 29 thousand comments. In the early years there seems be an underinvestment in agriculture but premature investment in schools and hospitals. Seems to be a trend for post ww2 African leaders. Did the French manage to set up a functional legal system with land titles while they doing "benevolent" imperialism.

Yea many leaders focused on maximizing production of natural resources or soft commodities. In Burkina Faso's case, it was soft commodities since gold wasn't extracted in large amounts until later.

Burkina Faso is still working on issuing land titles and deeds to its citizens, particularly in rural areas.
